  • Since 1887 the Rescue Mission has been serving men, women and families who have no place to turn. We are the ultimate safety net for those who are hungry, homeless and without hope. Our motto is: We put love into action” through shelter, food, clothing and hope. Serving nearly 700 meals a day, providing 183 emergency shelter beds to the homeless each night(143 for men and 40 for women), and helping individuals secure employment that will help them move out of homelessness is what we do.  The Rescue Mission values people, our community, integrity and fiscal responsibility.
  • The main campus of the Rescue Mission is on Gifford Street in Syracuse, with additional programs in Auburn, Binghamton and Ithaca. In Syracuse the Rescue Mission also provides transitional housing as well as permanent housing for individuals who are making progress rebuilding their lives. Our 17 Thrifty Shopper stores provide over 50% of our revenue to support our programs. General fund-raising and a small part of our budget is comprised of government contracts. The organization is governed by a local board of directors who volunteer their time and talent for the sake of all we serve.
