Our Mission:

• Joseph’s House provides a safe home for pregnant, homeless women and their children.
• The physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of the mothers and their babies are cared for through the loving support of staff members and volunteers in a nurturing family home environment.
• Joseph’s House offers life skills classes and access to educational, occupational and spiritual resources informed by the Catholic tradition.
• Residents can live at Joseph’s House for up to two years and continuing support is provided through our Exodus program as the women transition to independent living.

History & Accomplishments:

• The inspiration for Joseph’s House for Women came through prayer. After years of planning and fund-raising, the house opened on March 19, 2014, the Feast of St. Joseph.
• Over the last five years, more than 90 women have found refuge at Joseph’s House and more than 50 newborn babies call Joseph’s House their first home.
• Many women have taken the opportunity at Joseph’s House to successfully transition to independence, establishing successful careers, owning homes and setting examples for the next generation.
• Joseph’s House is 100 percent privately funded. We take no monies from the government or its agencies. We are not supported financially by the Diocese of Syracuse or Catholic Charities. We work daily to raise the dollars needed to sustain this mission of changing the lives of mothers and their children, two generations at a time.
• Last year, Joseph’s House was named one of two local nonprofits to receive proceeds from Philanthropic Foodies, along with Friends of Dorothy. In its eighth year, 2019 marked the highest fund-raising year yet for the annual event, with the help and support of Joseph’s House.
